UNC bans Cong offices in Naga areas; decides to 'socially boycott' MLA K Ranjit

United Naga Council (UNC) on Monday decided to ban Congress Party offices in all Naga areas with immediate effect for its alleged "anti-Naga policies and designs." The decision was taken at UNC Presidential Council meeting .
The UNC has also decided to "socially boycott" MLA K Ranjit Singh for his alleged "anti-Naga statement" on the floor of the Assembly on August 31. The MLA's entry into Naga areas would be banned with immediate effect, said a press release issued by UNC General Secretary.
The meeting also decided to ban the construction of all national and international projects including Trans Asian Railways Line construction, Power Grid in all Naga areas for 15 days with effect from 6 am of September 10 .
The UNC Presidential Council Meeting condoled the sudden demise of Late Somi Keishing, Advisor of UNC and observed a two-minute silence in honour of the departed soul.
While also condoling the "brutal killing" of protesters in Churanchandpur town by security forces "who sprayed live bullets", UNC also welcomed the "Historic Indo-Naga Peace Accord" signed on August 3.The council has extended gratitude to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for his bold leadership and statesmanship and the Collective Leaderships led by Isak Chishi Swu and Th Muivah.
Further, the house unanimously resolved to urge the Centre to expedite bringing the Framework Agreement to its logical conclusion.
The meeting after serious deliberation condemned the Naga MLAs and ministers for supporting the "anti-tribal and anti-Naga Bills and Resolution" in the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31 .
Therefore, they should resign from their membership with immediate effect for their "utter failure to defend and protect the established position of the Nagas and tribals", asserted UNC.
Leaders of various Churches visit Churachandpur .
Tribal Churches Leaders' Forum (TCLF) comprising of 39 various tribal church leaders on Monday visited Churachandpur town on a "Peace Mission" .
The team was led by its President Dr Rev S Lalpi Vaiphei; General Secretary Fr Paul Lelen and Treasurer Pastor Johny Shimray.
The team held a meeting with the Churachandpur JAC and Churachandpur District Christian Goodwill Council members.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Fr Paul said TCLF donated nine traditional shawls to the nine "tribal martyrs" and Rs 25,000 in cash to the JAC.
The church leaders appealed for peace and asked all to adopt "constitutional way of functioning" .
Fr Paul said TCLF and JAC observed two minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
He further said that TCLF will continue their peace mission in the remaining hill areas like Moreh and Senapati.
