Workshop on functional Hindi held at RIMS

The Official Language Cell of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organised a one-day Hindi Lecture-cum-Workshop on "Functional Hindi" at Banting Hall of the medical institute, here, on Saturday.
RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar, medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib and Dhanamanjuri University, School of Humanities, dean Prof S Lanchenba attended the event as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
In his address, Prof G Sunil Kumar highlighted the significance of Hindi as an official language, emphasising its role as a common means of communication among people from different linguistic backgrounds across India.
He underscored the importance of Hindi in enhancing the efficiency of administrative and governance systems.
He noted that Hindi s importance is multifaceted, covering cultural, historical, administrative, economic, and artistic dimensions.
The director also appealed to all professors at RIMS to learn Hindi to effectively communicate with guests visiting from other states and the Ministry for national-related eventd.
He encouraged the staff of the institute to acknowledge and learn Hindi to improve communication with others.
The workshop was attended by several notable personalities, including RIMS deputy director (administration) RK Mecolt, RIMS CAO/FA Sairem Sarat, as well as the heads of departments, faculties, and staff of RIMS, Imphal.
The programme aimed to promote the use of Hindi within the institute, reflecting its importance as a unifying language in India's diverse linguistic landscape.
