Claim of looting Hmar houses by Meiteis rejected

United Jiri Youth League, Jiribam (UJYL) rejected the Ties' of Hmar Student's Association, Jiribam Joint headquarters that the abandoned houses of Hmar community were looted by Meitei miscreants on June 24 and 25, 2024 .
In a statement, UJYL general secretary Chinglemba Khuman refuted the claimed of torching Hmar houses in Uchathol after they were abandoned on June 6 as fabricated lies.
Chinglemba said that some old wretched vacant houses which had been abandoned for a long time without occupants were destroyed by an angry mob shortly after (L) S Sarat Singh was found mercilessly killed by Kuki-Zo-Hmar militants.
It is well known that internally displaced Meetei people from around 70 houses in Borobekra Sub-division are living in seven relief camps set up in different parts of Jiri and Barak circles after their houses were torched and destroyed with bombs by Kuki-Zo-Hmar militants.
He denounced the habit of spreading lies by Kuki-Zo-Hmar community who made false allegation and propaganda that IDPs Meitei occupied the deserted Kuki-Zo-Hmar houses in Kalinagar.
Pointing out that CSOs of Jiribam had been maintaining peace in and around Jiribam as a peace loving community for more than one year despite repeated disruptions of peace by some Kuki-Zo-Hmar miscreants engaging in various barbaric activities such as mental torture of one Meitei girl in Borobekra sub-division, life threatening of one worker along NH-37 near Kaiphun-dai, destruction of shop building with heavy bomb in Lamtai Khunou Borobekra and scattering of the Lamtai Thangja Saroi Khangba (Offering of god) at Lein-gangpokpi, he maintained that Meitei community has ran out of patience.
He urged Jiribam district police and authorities concerned to take necessary legal actions against the culprits to prove that there is rule of law in the land.
