Imphal, October 28 2023:
The BJP still not taking action against its seven Kuki MLAs is akin to endorsing the demand of Kukis to bifurcate Manipur, charged the State unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, State activity coordinator of AAP, Manipur Th Biswanath asked the BJP to make public why no action is being taken up against seven of its Kuki MLAs if they don't support the Separate Administration demand.
Notably, seven from among the 10 Kuki MLAs who have been demanding Separate Administration for the people they represent belong to BJP.
Of the seven BJP Kuki MLAs two are Cabinet Ministers namely Letpao Haokip and Nemcha Kipgen.
The statement of BJP Manipur Pradesh A Sharda which argued that BJP has not demanded Separate Administration is denial of fact and illogical, he continued and reiterated that three of the Kuki MLAs may have no connection with BJP but seven of them are still active members of the party.
Why are the seven Kuki MLAs still in BJP if the party is hellbent on protecting the State's unity and integrity, Biswanath asked and added that the BJP still protecting its MLAs who violate the norm of the Constitution is unfortunate.
