Imphal, October 28 2023:
Even as everyone is aware that the Kuki-Zo MLAs including seven from BJP are scheming to break apart Manipur by demanding a sepa rate administration, it is questionable why the remaining 50 MLAs are fretting from launching a united movement to take action against the 10 MLAs, said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Manipur unit.
AAP Manipur activity coordinator Thingnam Bishwanath told media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday that BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda continues to protect the seven BJP MLAs among the 10 Kuki -Zo MLAs who are demanding a separate administration for the Kuki-Zo people and it has been proven from her recent remark that BJP did not demand a separate administration in Manipur but by 10 Kuki-Zo MLAs.
Of the 10 Kuki-Zo MLAs who are raising the demand for a separate administration, two MLAs belonging to Kuki People's Alliance (KPA) have withdrawn support to the BJP-led government but the seven BJP MLAs including two cabinet ministers are still pursuing the demand, Bishwanath pointed out and questioned the BJP state unit as to why the remaining 50 MLAs in the state assembly are unable to raise a collective voice against the 10 Kuki-Zo MLAs.
Regarding Sharda's claim that the party's central leaders have been intimated in writing about taking action against the BJP MLAs demanding separate administration, Bishwanath expressed that intention and agenda of the seven BJP MLAs merit prompt exemplary action though the party which is ruling both at the Centre and in the state is reluctant to take action.
According to Thingnam Bishwanath, chief minister N Biren Singh's love for Manipur as declared during a public event in Andro some days back should be translated into action and he should take responsibility for convening cabinet meetings in other hill districts just as did recently in Ukhrul to restore peace and normalcy.
On the other-hand, he noted that many national leaders of BJP will be visiting Mizoram to join election campaign but none of the national leaders except Union home minister Amit Shah visited Manipur ever since the violence erupted on May 3 .
If the BJP national leaders are really concerned about Manipur, they should visit the state and assess suffering of the people before or after touring Mizoram, the AAP state leader said.
