Nov 5 deadline set to handover bodies of student duo

Demanding handing over of the bodies of students Linthoingambi and Hemanjit, who are suspected to have been killed in captivity by armed Kuki militants, to their respective families by November 5, Meitei Ereicha Kanba Athouba Salai Taret, Wangkhei has threatened to launch intense agitation along with the JAC formed in connection with the death of the two students if the demand is not met.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, Salai Taret general secretary Saiman Mangang stated that the public including the bereaved families of Linthoingambi and Hemanjit protested and demanded all concerned for safe release of the students after they went missing since July 6.However, the photos of the two students before and after the their murder were circulated on social media.
After the photos went viral, the state government handed over the case to the CBI and the public expected justice would be done.
However, as the bodies of the students have not been retrieved, the faith of the public in the government is fading away, he said and expressed strong resentment that the government has failed to do the needful.
The state government needs to galvanise all available resources to deliver justice for the victims, the secretary added.
