6 polling stations of Outer to go for repoll on April 30

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered fresh poll at six polling stations of three assembly segments falling under Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency, which went to the polls on Friday.
The fresh poll will be held on April 30 from 7 am to 4 pm, the ECI said in a statement issued Saturday while declaring that the polls held at the six polling stations on Friday were void as per Sections 58(2) and 58 A (2) of the Representation of the People's Act, 1951 .
The six polling stations where the ECI has ordered fresh polls are 44/20 Shangshak (A), 44/36 Ukhrul (A), 44/41 Ukhrul (D) and 44/50 Ukhrul (F) of Ukhrul AC of Ukhrul district, 47/33 Oinam (Al) of Karong AC of Senapati district and 45/14 Chingai polling station of Chingai AC of Ukhrul district.
The ECI order for fresh poll at six polling stations came after the Returning Officer (RO) concerned recommended re-poll after close examination of documents and Form 17A of the polling stations where unwanted incidents were reported during the polling on Friday.
As per information received by press, the RO recommended re-poll at six polling stations in Ukhrul, Chingai and Karong assembly segments of Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency.
Re poll has been recommended for four polling stations in Ukhrul AC and one each in Chingai AC and Karong AC.
Four polling stations in Ukhrul AC where re-poll was recommended are 44/20 Shangshak (A), 44/36 Ukhrul (A), 44/41 Ukhrul (D) and 44/50 Ukhrul (F).
As per report of presiding officer and sector officer, voting at 44/20 Shangshak (A) stopped after 1 pm due to acts of intimidation by some unidentified persons while voting at 44/36 Ukhrul (A), 44/41 Ukhrul (D) and 44/50 Ukhrul (F) could not be continued after unidentified people completely destroyed EVMs and VVPAT machines.
The lone polling station in Chingai AC being recommended for re-poll is 45/14 Chingai and presiding officer reported that voting could not be completed after the EVM suffered technical snag while further voting was not possible due to law-and-order issue.
Re-poll was also recommended for one polling station in Karong AC of Senapati district namely 47/33 Oinam (A1).EVM and VVPAT machine of the polling station were completely destroyed by unidentified people before completion of voting and accordingly recommended re-poll.
Notably, Indian National Congress (INC) had lodged a complaint to CEO Manipur on Friday regarding alleged electoral malpractices in certain polling stations during the 18th Lok Sabha Election-2024 for the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency and demanded re-poll at 17 polling stations under Ukhrul AC and two polling stations under Phungyar AC.
Polling stations where INC demanded re-poll are 44/36 Ukhrul model high school (N/W), 44/50 Ukhrul KK Leishiphanit Junior High School, 44/41 Ukhrul (D-1) Greenland Primary School, 44/1 Leisan Govt High School, 44/2 Sanakeithel-A, 44/3 Sanakeithel-B, 44/15 Tushen (A), 44/16 Tushen (B), 44/17 Tushen Chahong Primary School, 44/32 Hundung Dungrei (B), 44/33 Hamleikhong Hundung, 44/34 Hundung Kaziphung (C-1, 44/35 Hundung (C-2), 44/45 Ukhrul (E-2), 44/46 Ukhrul (0-4), 44/48 Ukhrul E (Part VI) and 44/49 Ukhrul E (Part V).
The party also demanded re-poll at two polling stations under Phungyar AC namely 43/19 Singkap Government HighSchool and 43/46 Nambasi Khullen polling stations.
