Entry of non-locals banned from today

With the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh led Congress Government failing to re-implement Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the State even after the dateline fixed by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) passed, the Students unit of JCILPS has imposed strict restrictions on entry of non-Manipuris into the State with effect from June 1 till June 5 .
Talking to media persons in this regard here today, M Angamba, Convener of the Students Unit of JCILPS, recalled that a number of agitations have been launched to press the demand for re-implementation of ILP in the State and a number of memorandums submitted to the Chief Minister and the Union Home Minister over the issue.
However, as the State Government has not come up with any positive response over the demand, entry of all non-Manipuris into the State either by surface transport or by air would be prohibited from June 1 to 5.The state transporters should also see that no non-Manipuris are transported in their vehicles.
Angamba also appealed to all the non-Manipuris not to enter the lanes and neighbourhood from June 6 to 10 next and stated that it would carry out a non-cooperation movement against the State Government.
Furthermore, he appealed to all the clubs, meira paibis, student organizations and general public to support the non-co-operation movement in the interest of saving the indigenous population from extinction.
If the State Government still turns a blind eye to the demand, more intense agitations would follow, he warned.
Th Premananda, President of KSO; N Rojenkumar, Joint Secretary of SUK; S Sahajahan, Publicity Secretary of AMSU; Sadam Hussain, General Secretary of AMMSO and Sanjoy Meitei, Joint Secretary of AISF were also present during the press conference.
