Imphal, May 31 2013 :
Peeved at the Sugnu SDPO's hasty and suspicious summon to villagers for appearing before him along with village documents, Western Chandel Joint Action Committee (WCJAC), a newly formed organization has come out against the SDPO and demanded clarification against his actions.
Informing this to the media, General Secretary of the Committee, BD James and its Chairman KL Kanthu stated that WCJAC was formed following an emergency meeting held on May 29 at Tokpaching village which was attended by Chiefs, students' leaders, social workers and intellectuals from Western valley area, Gunpi area and western Lamkang area.
It is stated that the emergency meeting was held in the backdrop of SDPO's hasty summon to all village Chiefs of this area without prior information or notice to the said areas mentioned above.
It is also stated that the suspicious action of the Sugnu SDPO has irked the newly constituted committee to demand clarification from the Police officer in person or through print media substantiating his deeds.
At the same time the committee has strongly denounced the merciless and discriminate action against tribal residents by ruining down three churches during the eviction of Naga River/Kabo Leikai on May 20 last.
