Senapati, June 21 2026:
In view of the prevailing monsoon season and the continuous monsoon rainfall across Senapati district, the District Administration through the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued a public advisory urging residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions against possible flood-related hazards.
The administration stated that incessant rains have led to rising water levels in rivers, streams and other water bodies, increasing the risk of flooding, riverbank erosion, landslides and waterlogging, particularly in low-lying areas.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of DDMA Senapati, Dharun Kumar S, appealed to residents, especially those living in vulnerable and flood-prone areas, to remain cautious and follow safety measures.
The advisory urged the public to avoid entering flooded areas, swollen rivers, streams and waterlogged roads, and cautioned against walking, swimming or driving through fast-flowing water.
Residents have also been advised to regularly follow official weather updates and alerts issued by the authorities.
The administration advised people to keep important documents, valuables, food items and essential medicines in safe elevated places.
Households have also been asked to maintain emergency kits containing drinking water, flashlights, batteries and firstaid supplies.
Citizens have been advised to stay away from riverbanks, embankments and landslide-prone areas.
In case of flooding, people should immediately switch off electrical appliances and avoid contact with submerged transformers, electric poles or exposed wires.
The DDMA has directed all concerned departments, village authorities and local bodies to remain prepared and extend timely assistance wherever required.
The District Administration has sought public cooperation in ensuring safety during the monsoon season.
