Call for peace, harmony grow louder

Protests were staged at different places in various districts today calling for an end to the unrestrained communal violence which have engulfed the State thereby threatening the integrity of the State and peaceful co-existence among the indigenous communities.
Bishnupur
Reiterating the demand for a resolution with regards to the ongoing conflict and restoration of peace and normalcy, Karang Island Development Organisation and Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Karang jointly organised a sit-in at Karang Mange Makhong in Thanga Assembly Constituency today.
Voicing the same demands womenfolk of Moirang Hemam Leikai, Kumam Leikai, Moirangthem Leikai, Philem Leiphrakpam Leikai, Mairembam Leikai and surrounding areas of Moirang Bazar along with the inmates of Moirang Kumam Leikai Relief Camp carried out a protest demonstration at Moirang Keithel.
Jiribam
A large number of residents from different areas of Jiribam took to the streets and formed a human chain from Zero-Point along Gularthol and Dibong Karong in line with the demand for safeguarding the integrity of Manipur.
Later a rally was carried out and many slogans such as 'Implement NRC in Manipur', 'Stop Narco-terrorism', 'Withdraw SoO immediately', 'Include Meetei in ST list' etc were raised.
Thoubal
Raising the clarion call of protection of the integrity of Manipur, sit-in protests were held at Thoubal Okram, Thoubal Bazar and Thoubal Melaground under the aegis of Thoubal Apunba Lup (TAL) .
During the protests, members of TAL spoke in connection with the present unrest in the State.
Urging for the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact with the Kuki militants and immediate implementation of NRC, local clubs and Meira Paibis of Yairipok staged a protest at Yairipok Keithel today.
A similar protest was also held at Uyal Keithel in Thoubal district.
