Imphal, May 06 2010: The Manipur People's Party (MPP), the Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) and the CPI General Secretary AB Bardhan have petitioned Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh not to allow NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah from entering Manipur.

In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, the MPP said that the proposed visit of Th Muivah to Manipur portends grave fall-outs affecting the cordial relation between communities in the State and disunity amongst the States of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur.

It signals dangerous conflagration in Manipur because Muivah is the architect and mastermind of the possible disintegration of the ancient State of Manipur with two thousand years of recorded history.

Stating that the MPP which was established with the prime objective of safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur is deeply concerned with the evolving situation, it conveyed that the party whole-heartedly object to Muivah's entry to Manipur lest it might lead to a civil war.

At the moment, there is a very unsettling state of mind and extreme anxiety in the psyche of people in Manipur.

The MPP also noted that the Government is in full alert to arrest Muivah if he ventures to step into the soil of Manipur whereas a few selected supporters of Muivah are hell-bent to defy any opposition to his entry in Manipur.

Taking strong exception to the short-sighted action of the Home Minister of India P Chidambaram to chalk out Muivah's tour schedule to Manipur, the MPP rued that this unwarranted decision of the Home Minister without knowing ground realities has already done the damage.

It mentioned about the arson where seven truck loads entering Manipur with cargoes were torched reducing them to cinders in Nagaland.

The MPP strongly condemned the hasty, shortsighted and irresponsible decision of the Home Minister of India to allow Muivah to enter Manipur without any idea of the possible inter-community clashes in Manipur.

Further condemning in the strongest term the uncultured behaviour of cadres of the armed militants who burnt seven Manipur bound trucks in Nagaland as well as the seven elected MLAs of Manipur who want to welcome Muivah with a red carpet without knowing serious consequences and possible fall-out, the MPP demanded resignation of the irresponsible Home Minister of India.

It further asserted that the Government of India should be solely responsible for any eventuality and untoward incident that may happen in the wake of Muivah's entry into Manipur.

Copies of the same memorandum were also sent to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat and Opposition leader Susma Swaraj.
