Imphal, June 02 2023:
Amid the ethnic conflict engulfing the State, the Kom Union Manipur (KUM) has stated that Kom will continue to live and breath as Kom and carry on their legacy as done since time immemorial.
Addressing a press briefing at KR Lane in Imphal today, KUM president Serto Ahao Kom said that matters pertaining to Kom will solely be discussed and responded to by KUM.
KUM should never be sidelined when discussing the culture, tradition, identity and other matters of the Kom tribe, he asserted.
Saying that no group or community should speak about the past, present and future of Kom people without the authorisation of KUM , Serto Kom continued that those who defy the warning must take responsibility for all eventuality.
The ethnic violence which has led to loss of lives and mass destruction of houses is truly unfortunate, he said and appealed to all the people to lend a hand in restoring normalcy.
No Meeteis or Kukis have threatened or attacked Kom people amid the violent clash till today, he added.
