UNLF questions, accuses Indian system

Alleging that the Government of India has been pursuing a pogrom targeting indigenous people of western South East Asia, the so-called North East region for the past many years, the proscribed UNLF has questioned the credibility of the alien rule and its judiciary system with regard to protection of human rights and delivery of justice.
It is crucial for the people particularly intellectuals and students to raise this question, the outfit asserted in a press release issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
Even though the case of RIMS massacre of 1995 was handed over to CBI after sustained civil movements, Indian Court has acquitted the four CRPF jawans who mowed down nine innocent civilians including a medical student.
This is a clear indication of the alleged pogrom being unleashed by New Delhi in Manipur and the so-called North East region.
It is not the case of RIMS Massacre alone.
Justice was always denied in many similar cases of summary mass execution.
The UNLF listed the cases of Heirangoithong Massacre, Patsoi-Langjing Massacre, Tera Massacre, Tonsen Lamkhai Massacre, Malom Massacre, Oinam (Senapati) outrage etc.
Even though Irom Sharmila has been crusading against the infamous AFSPA for the last 12 years, the Government of India has been skilfully concealing the unparalleled crusade from the view of international communities.
The most recent case of communal segregation and denial of justice was the case of Loitam Richard.
Despite the sustained agitation launched by Manipuri students and students of other Northeastern States studying in different cities of India against the killing of Richard which went on for almost two months under the banner "Justice for Loitam Richard", the Government of Karnataka has set free the two accused instead of handing over the case to the CBI.
Close on the heels of the murder of Richard, Dana Sangma from Meghalaya who was studying in Amity University, Gurgaon committed suicide as she could no longer bear the persistent harassment by her teachers based on colour, religion, ethnicity and physical look which were quite different from the mainland Indians.
In the face of the strong agitation launched in Manipur by a united front of six student bodies together with civil society organisations, Chief Minister O Ibobi had the audacity to tell a big lie to the people of Manipur by claiming that he had urged his Karnataka counterpart adding that the case of Loitam Richard would be handed over to the CBI soon, the outfit alleged.
The case of Richard is not an isolated case.
For the last many years, people of the so-called North East region particularly women have been subjected to all kinds of atrocities driven by racism such as rape, molestation and murder in different cities of India.
Despite all the protests and complaints, neither the Indian police nor its judiciary has initiated even a single step to check such crimes driven racism.
They (Indian police) even refused to register FIRs although they were given full reports of such crime.
To complete the pogrom, security forces have been killing and arresting people openly or secretly, irrespective of whether arrest memos were given or not.
Accusing the Government of India of unleashing a pogrom aimed at racial extermination of the indigenous peoples of the so-called North East region, the UNLF called upon to explore an answer to the alleged pogrom.
