Imphal, April 18 2013: The State Government has ordered a police enquiry into the violent incident that took place at the home of one Khaidem Kunjeshore of Yairipok Khoirom on April 12 night in which one Md Sana was killed.

The Principal Secretary (Home) today issued an order for a police enquiry to establish facts and circumstances of the particular incident.

According to the order, IGP T Pachuau is the enquiry officer.

Report of the enquiry which would probe the incidents of the death of Md Sana, burning down of Khaidem Kunjeshore's house and causes of these incidents should be submitted within 30 days.

Meanwhile, members of the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Md Sana today held a meeting with Chief Minister O Ibobi at 4 pm today.

The meeting was also attended by Agriculture Minister Md Nasir, Parliamentary Secretary Amin Shah, Parliamentary Secretary K Meghachandra and MLA Fazur Rahim.

The meeting finally agreed to call off the ongoing bandh.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Parliamentary Secretary K Meghachandra noted that the JAC has been demanding a high level enquiry.

In response, the Government has issued necessary order for a high level enquiry.

Subsequently, the JAC has agreed to call off the ongoing bandh.

On the other hand, many untoward and violent incidents were reported during the 48 hours bandh supported by different student organisations which is now put under suspension.

This morning at about 11, a large number of bandh supporters burnt tyres and blocked road at Khurai Heikrumakhong.

As police tried to open the road, a stand-off ensued following which police opened several rounds of tear gas shells, mock bombs etc.

At about 1.30 pm, a large crowd assembled at Minuthong started burning tyres and scattering pieces of broken glass on the road.

The bandh supporters also targeted and damaged some vehicles.

There too, police fired several tear gas shells and live bullets in their bid to bring the situation under control.

The bandh supporters reacted by hurling stones and attacking police team using clubs and other objects.

The mob vandalised a Maruti van.

The bandh supporters did not spare even journalists.

Vehicles of two journalists were vandalised by the bandh supporters even after they identified themselves.

A bullet suspected to have been fired by police in order to control the situation hit the right thigh of one Sakil Ahmad (22) s/o Safir Ahmad.

One Md Tomba (18) too sustained injuries as a tear gas shell grazed through his cheek.

Both the injured persons are being treated at Public Hospital, Hatta.
