Fund assured

Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Minister M Okendro Singh has assured to extend Rs 5 lakh assistance for infrastructure development of Institute of Cooperative Management, Lamphelpat.
Speaking as chief guest during the valedictory function of a training programme at the ICM conference hall today, M Okendro, who is also the Education Minister, acknowledged that for years ICM has conducted training programmes in various vocational courses for over 40,000 youths.
Pointing out that ICM has been recognised by the Manipur University as an institute, the Minister expressed that fund constraints should not be a stumbling block for ICM in order to enable the Institute continue its endeavour in the socio-economic upliftment of the State.
He exuded confidence that with adequate fund allocation, ICM would play a major role in the economic development of the State by expanding self-employment opportunities to the educated but unemployed section of the society.
The valedictory function was in connection with the two months training programme on 'setting up of agri-clinics & agri business centres by graduates in agriculture and allied subjects' and the '24th higher diploma in cooperative management', conducted by Institute of Cooperative Management.
The closing function was also attended by the Cooperation Minister AK Mirabai Devi as the functional president while Registrar, Cooperative Societies Thaithuilung Pamei, ICM Chairman L Tompishak Singh and CADA Additional Chief Engineer K Manoranjan Singh graced the occasion as the guests of honour.
