In a gesture of unreserved appreciation of the diligent nature of the people of Kakching, State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today said that let Kakching be the model town for industriousness.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a function organised to inaugurate the newly constructed Multi Purpose Hall at Kakching Mayai Leikai in Thoubal district today.
The hall was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 68,09,900 which was mobilised by way of collecting different funds under the leadership of Kakching A/C MLA, Y Surchandra.
Chief Minister O Ibobi was the chief guest at the inaugural function while Manipur Assembly Speaker Dr Sapam Budhichandra presided and Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board, MLA E Dwijamani, MLAs M Hemanta, M Okendro, K Meghachandra, Dr Usham Deben and Y Surchandra were the guests of honour.
Chief Minister Ibobi, in his speech, affirmed that Kakching is a place inhabited by industrious people.
Besides, it is a hub of trade and commerce of people coming from Chandel and Churachandpur districts.
The Multi Purpose Hall being inaugurated in such a place does not only belong to Kakching Mayai Leikai and Kakching but also to all communities settled in Manipur, the Chief Minister said.
He further said that the hall provides adequate space not only for sports-related activities but can also be used as a place of shelter for people during difficult and unfortunate times.
However, let us pray that such times do not come, the Chief Minister said.
He also said that it is good for the people of Kakching and surrounding areas to have a hall like this.
Patting on the back of the people of Kakching, Chief Minister Ibobi said that the people of Kakching are always united whether in work or a welfare programme.
It is a place where cooperation always prevails, which is the most important quality of a human being.
This is exactly what the government wants too.
He said, even if the government has a lot of money to spend, if there is no cooperation of the people, it would be very difficult to carry out a welfare programme.
All the MLAs in the present government, the MLAs of Thoubal district Ruling MLAs from Thoubal district are very co-operative to the government and he feels happy with the motive of the MLAs, Ibobi said adding they extended suggestive co-operation in the state issues coming from time to time apart from taking keen interest in matter related with their respective constancies.
Seating MLAs are more aggressive than MLAs elected in the previous term.
They work with a determination to overcome all hindrances to achieve goals of certain works they resolved to performed, the Chief Minister observed.
The market place at Kakching which is one of the commercial centres of the state is very small compared to the volume of trade.
Government is planning to expand it.
The architect work will be completed soon.
After completion, comments of the people of the area will be invited before translating into works, Ibobi said.
Kakching is a place in Thoubal district which can be proud of production of food productions.
In order to relief the people from water shortage, repairing works of irrigation canal are in progress, the chief minister said appealing the people to make the place having a sustainable food production centre of the state.
After the completion of the development of infrastructures in all the districts of the state, government will turn its work into the effort of producing self sustainable productions and generation of employments, he added.
