Imphal, April 09 2010:
The Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long has issued a stern warning to the Ukhrul branch of UBI and warned that it would be compelled to launch a non-coperation movement against the lone bank of the district for 'exploiting the eighty thousand over customers of the bank through various means and policies besides their failure in keeping their promises made to this organisation in the early part of 2009' .
In a statement, TMNL said that the UBI authority had assured to instal an ATM machine in mid 2009, but this is yet to materialise.
Listing other failures of the bank, the youth organisation said that it has completely failed to cater to the needs to the customers in hospitality, customer service, delivery and convenience.
The bank has also failed miserably in maintaining its assets as the pass book updating machine has been lying defunct since last year.
Frequent excuses of breakdown of the generator etc is unbecoming of the only bank in the district, it noted and added that the constant delay in transactions, making only four or five transactions per day, had led to commotion in the bank.
Though core banking facility is there on paper, clearance takes more than a month with clearance fees deducted at every stage, charged TMNL.
Sounding a stern warning, TMNL said if the shortcomings are not rectified by May 15, it would launch a public agitation and non-coperation movement against the bank.
