3 Kangpokpi denizens beaten severely at Senapati

Kanggui, September 23 2013: Three innocent Kanggui denizens who went to Senapati were caught and beaten severely after they were blind-folded and their hands and legs tied with a rope by unknown persons but suspected to be cadres of NSCN-IM yesterday evening.

At the initiatives of Senapati Town Committee, the three victims were released only late at night at around 9:30 near traffic point Senapati bazar just in front of Senapati Police Station.

Kanggui Town Committee members including its Chairman Chonkam Kipgen and Kanggui Women Welfare Organization members went to pick up the victims and admitted them to CHC, Kanggui for treatment at around 10:30 pm.

From there, they were referred to Kanggui Christian Hospital commonly known as Mission hospital at around midnight since they did not show any improvement even after they were administered proper medical treatment.

The scars on the body

The three victims have been identified as Thangvanglen Misao (22), s/o Thangtinlal Misao of Kanggui Ward No.6, who is a III Semester student in Kanggui College; Ginkhomang Hangshing (27) s/o Thangdou Hangshing of Kanggui Ward No.6, who is a Butcher by profession and Mangminlal Sitlhou (29) s/o Mangchon Sitlhou of Kanggui Ward No.11, who is a Mistry/Jugali by profession.

According to the victims, they went to Senapati yesterday at around noon and have a drink at one liquor vendors at Senapati bazar.

As they were coming out after the drink and got into a bus to return to Kanggui, some unknown persons caught them from behind and asked them to move down from the bus.

After taking them to the Old Road, the unknown persons took them inside a house where they were blind-folded, their hands and legs tied and subjected to severe beating.

The unknown persons also asked then whether they are involved in any UG group.

The victims replied in the negative and identified themselves.

Still then, they were beaten up.

There were several torture marks on most parts of the bodies of the three victims including their thighs, hands, legs, buttock, faces, etc.

In the meantime, Kanggui Town Committee, Kanggui Women Welfare Organization and Kanggui Youth Union have strongly condemned the incident, terming it as too barbaric an incident to have been occurred in this civilized world.

The three organizations have also called upon the concerned group or those involved in the incident to come out with a clarification latest by tomorrow.
