Newly constructed building of Social Welfare Club inaugurated

Kakching, May 20 2024: The newly constructed building of the Social Welfare Club located at Hiyanglam Makha Leikai was inaugurated today by former MLA Elangbam Dwijamani.

The inaugural programme was followed by the hoisting of the club flag by the president of the club Elangbam Sanatomba.

Notably the club building was constructed from the contributions made by former MLA Elangbam Dwijamani; former Hiyanglam GP Pradhan Elangbam Shanti Devi and well wishers of the club.

As a part of the inaugural programme, an exhibition match of Sepak takraw was also held.

It is worth mentioning that the Social Welfare Club has been focusing on promoting sepak takraw and nurturing budding players.

Remarkably, the players who started off from the club have brought laurels by winning medals at the National and international platforms such as Asian Games etc.

Acknowledging their achievements, many of them have been appointed for Central and State Governments jobs.

In view of the dedicated efforts of the young players, the club sought the attention of the authorities concerned of the Government to construct an indoor hall or stadium so that the players do not miss practice due to erratic weather conditions.
