TR Zeliang is NPF's Chief Ministerial candidate

Dimapur, December 18 2017: The Legislature Party of Naga People's Front (NPF) in a meeting today "resolved to go to the 2018 State Assembly election under the leadership of Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu, President of the NPF party and TR Zeliang, as the Chief Ministerial candidate, if at all election is to be conducted" .

The meeting then adopted a resolution that, "in keeping with the aspiration of the Naga people for an early resolution to the protracted Naga political issue, the NPF Legislature Party expresses its deep sense of appreciation to the Party’s leadership for the steps taken in bringing about understanding and reconciliation in the NPF party which was initiated to facilitate a united stand in supporting the on-going dialogue between the NSCN(IM) and the 6 Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) with the Government of India for bringing about an inclusive, acceptable and an honourable solution to the Naga political issue" .

The NPF Legislature Party meeting was held at the State Banquet Hall, Kohima, where, amongst others, the prevailing political situations were discussed.

After detailed deliberations some resolutions were adopted .

The meeting then appreciated the decision taken for revocation of all suspension and expulsion orders against some of its members and withdrawal of all pending cases from the Court of Law, the Election Commission of India and the office of the Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

The meeting also placed on record "its deep obligation" to remain firmly united in the reconciliation process and the need to continue fostering congenial atmosphere in the State for facilitating an early settlement to the Naga Political Issue .

The meeting then "reaffirmed confidence and trust in the leadership of Dr Sh�rhozelie Liezietsu and TR Zeliang while resolving to stand solidly behind the two visionary leaders as they lead the NPF party and Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Government forward .

Later in the evening, Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Legislature Party meeting was held where it placed on record "its deep sense of appreciation for the rapprochement and reconciliation affected within the NPF party" .

It can be noted here that NPF is the principal constituent of the DAN government .

The DAN Legislature then reaffirmed and endorsed the 5 (five) point resolution adopted by the NPF Legislature Party at its meeting .

"In view of the on-going political dialogue between the NSCN(IM) and the 6 (six) NNPGs with the Government of India, the DAN Legislature Party called for an early solution before election which is inclusive, acceptable and honourable" .

The DAN Legislature Party meeting then urged upon all DAN Party members to co-operate and work in unison for successful return in the 2018 State Assembly elections under the leadership of Dr.Shurhozelie Liezietsu, Chairman, Democratic Alliance of Nagaland and TR Zeliang, as the Chief Ministerial Candidate, "if at all election is to be conducted" .

"The above resolutions were unanimously adopted with all the members raising their hand in support," sources said.
