Assault slur on VDFs, Cdos

Imphal, February 25 2014 :
Three students and a headmaster in-charge of Toupokpi High School, located at Toupokpi village under Chandel district were severely assaulted by some Village Defence Forces (VDF) personnel posted at Sugnu Bazar at around 12:30 pm yesterday.
One of the victims, a 17-year old girl, who is in a critical condition, has been admitted to RIMS for treatment.
The victims have been identified as Kt.
Rathina (17), daughter of Kt.
Tongam, HB.
Moningshisa (17) s/o Lovingson, HB.
Chinania (19), brother of Moningshisa and the headmaster in charge of Toupokpi High School, HB.
Charningam, all hailing from Toupokpi village of Chandel district.
While the girl has been brought to RIMS for treatment, HB.
Chinania and HB.
Moningshisa are reportedly undergoing treatment at the Sugnu Community Health Centre.
Rathina and Moningshisa are students appearing in the ongoing the High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2014 from Sugnu High School.
According to family members, the incident occurred when the four people who were coming on a white Bolero tried to park their vehicle at Sugnu Bazar to cool themselves down by having sugarcane juice after coming from the exam centre.
The VDF present at the place asked them to park the vehicle at a different location to which the victims obliged.
But just as they parked the Bolero as directed, some VDF personnel came and started beating them up.
To add to the suffering, some commandos who came along also joined in the assault, the family members alleged.
