Imphal, March 08 2024:
United Committee Kairang Khomidok Khabeisoi on Friday staged sit-in protest urging swift punitive action against armed Kuki volunteers involved in the brutal assault of a truck driver and his assistant at Moreh on Thursday.
Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of the protest, Commitee president FM Manawar Alina condemned the brutal assault of the driver and his assistant both from Khomidok Thangjam Khunou Chingya by heavily armed Kuki volunteers.
He drew immediate attention and prompt action by authorities concerned against the culprits.
Stating that neutral Meitei Pangal people are being targeted intermittently amid the ongoing conflict between two particular communities, he exhorted all concerned to contact local authorities rather than subjecting Meitei Pangals to atrocities for no fault of theirs.
Meanwhile, Committee spokesperson Md Kashim Ali said that with the arrival of Ramadan month, Muslims in the state should refrain from all illicit activities.
If anyone is found involving in such illicit activities in Kairang Khomidok Khabeisoi area they would be pulled up and punished.
Meanwhile, at Manipur Press Club, United Meitei Pangal Committee, Manipur spokesperson Raees Ahmed Tampakmayum condemned the assault and demanded government authorities to book the culprits.
He also affirmed that the Committee will do the needful to deliver justice to the victims and urged people of the state to contribute their mite in restoring peace and normalcy in the state.
Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) also strongly condemned the assault of two Meitei Pangals (driver and handyman), who transported sand for construction of security barrack of police at IRB post in Moreh, by Kuki narco-terrorists and seizure of the truck and snatching their mobile phones on Thursday.
In a release, COCOMI media coordinator Yumkhaibam Surjitkumar Khuman said that Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists have been attacking communities living harmoniously in the state since time immemorial.
As a part of their nefarious objective, they have killed a number of Meitei-Pangals and assaulted many with Meitei-Pangal brothers enduring the pain for long as could be comprehended from the recent incident of assault of driver and handyman.
Though Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists have been killing innocent people and burning down their houses and properties since outbreak of the violence on May 3 last year, the central government has been protecting the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists even though the conflict has been spanning for more than ten months.
With the SoO agreement with Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists already lapsing on February 29, there has been no information about extension of the said pact, he pointed out, while recalling the resolution adopted by the state government against extension of the pact.
As such, it underscores that central forces are aiding the Kuki-Chin militants.
In another release, My Manipur condemned the assault on two Meitei Pangals in Moreh by Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists.
While stating that it will not tolerate such dastardly actions but face anti-social elements hell-bent in fomenting discord, it continued that youth of Manipur will not remain mute if such heinous attack continues.
It also urged authorities concerned to take immediate legal action against the perpetrators involved in the act.
