Assam Rifles conducts wreath laying ceremony

Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony at Chassad, Kamjong District for Nb Sub Chandra Bahadur Limbu who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting with insurgents at Road Track Junction near Khyakjong village on 27 April, 1961 in Hapu, Tuensang district of Nagaland.
A press release by the Assam Rifles informed that on April 26, 1961, JC-80026 Nb Sub (GD) Chandra Bahadur Limbu led a team tasked with destroying a temporary camp established by hardcore underground groups in Hapu village, Tuensang district, Recognizing the urgency of the situation, he fearlessly attacked the camp along with his team, neutralizing five highly trained insurgents and successfully destroying the camp.
Nb Sub (GD) Chandra Bahadur Limbu sustained bullet injuries during the intense firefight and got martyred on April 27, 1961, bravely sacrificing his life for the Nation.
The wreath laying ceremony commenced with a wreath being laid by the Comdt of the unit followed by a motivational speech addressing all ranks and narrating the inspiring story of the braveheart.
A total of four Officers, 13 Junior Commissioned Officers and 131 Other Ranks of the Battalion paid tribute by laying wreaths and presenting Guard of Honour,
said the release.
