Training programme on beekeeping concludes

The 7-Days State Level Basic Training Programme on Beekeeping organised by Manipur Beekeeping and Honey Mission (MBHM) concluded today at the Conference Hall of Directorate of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur, in Sanjenthong, Imphal.
The training programme was conducted under the sponsorship of National Bee Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India.
The closing ceremony was attended by Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Director, K Devabrata Shanna and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH)/ MBHM, Mission Director, Chungong Pamei as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, K Devabrata Sharma said that the Department is taking steps to promote beekeeping as a profession considering the increasing demands for honey and other bee-related products.
Highlighting that beekeeping requires minimal start-up investment and training, he appealed to the people to take up beekeeping for a sustainable income and progressive society.
Later, certificates were distributed to the participating farmers.
