Imphal, July 16 2020: The Wangkhei Kendra BJP Mandal has drawn the attention of the State Government to alleged irregularities in the distribution of rice and dal under NFSA, ONSS and PMGKAY in Wangkhei Kendra.

Speaking to media persons at the residence of former Minister Y Erabot at Ayangpali Road, Wangkhei Kendra BJP Mandal president Md Firoz said people of the Kendra have not received their rice quota under NFSA, ONSS and PMGKAY regularly.

The Wangkhei Kendra BJP Mandal has received many complaints from the public regarding the rice distribution from January to June.

Following this, the Mandal investigated the matter and found that 1820.85 quintal each of rice for three months ie January, February and March under NFSA have been lifted from the department's godown but were never distributed to the people, he alleged.

After the COVID-19 pandemic reached the State in April, rice quota of 1038 quintal under ONSS, 1820.85 quintal under NFSA and 2260.30 quintal and 105.28 quintal of dal under PMGKAY was lifted from the department's godown for Wangkhei Kendra.

Five Kg of rice per person under PMGKAY and another five Kg of rice under NFSA in total 10 Kg should have been distributed for the month of April but only five Kg per person was distributed.

Again for the month of May, 1038 quintal of rice under ONSS, 2408.10 quintal of rice under NFSA and 2260.30 quintal of rice and 105.28 quintal of dal under PMGKAY was lifted.

10 Kg of rice per person and five Kg rice for children were distributed but again dal was not distributed.

Further for the month of June, 1038 quintal of rice under ONSS, 2408.10 quintal of rice under NFSA and 2260.30 quintal of rice and 105.20 quintal of dal under PMGKAY was lifted from the department's godown but only PMGKAY rice of five Kg per person and ONSS five Kg rice per child were distributed at only a few polling stations.

While urging the State Government to look into the matter, Md Firoz added "even God will not forgive those people who steal from the poor during this trying time" .
