Imphal, June 11 2024:
The Indigenous Development Mission (IDM) has stated that the Central Government should work out a way to resolve the conflict between the Meeteis and Kukis.
In addition, the State Government should perform its duty and prevent the frequent bouts of attacks on Meetei villages and killing of innocent civilian by suspected Kuki militants, said IDM.
A statement issued by Joy Khuman, media co-ordinator, IDM has strongly condemned the arson and attack on Meetei villages in Jiribam including Lamtai Khunou and the brutal killing of Soibam Saratkumar Singh by suspected Kuki militants on June 6 .
The ongoing conflict has deprived many in the Meetei community of their prized possessions including their land and their homes.
As such, they have become refugees in their own motherland, said IDM.
The Indigenous Development Mission also accused Kuki militants of manipulating historical facts and spreading fabrications and falsehoods to paint the Meetei community in a poor light in front of the global audience.
IDM further accused both the State and Central Government of being aware of the secret designs hatched by Kuki militants but remaining tight-lipped on the matter.
Thus, IDM asserted that the Central Government should immediately stop using Kuki militants as a tool to further their hidden agenda.
Indigenous Development Mission has also urged the relevant authority to bring a resolution to the conflict and put an end to all incidents of violence in the State.
