Mother delivers baby at home after CHC denies admission

Kangpokpi, December 09 2017: In an embarrassing incident for the medical department, a mother delivered her baby at home without any medical care and attention after CHC, Kangpokpi, which was recently upgraded into District hospital allegedly denied her delivery in the hospital, giving reasons of incomplete documents, non accompany by ASHA workers and failure to go proper checkup during pregnancy .

Lhingjoujam Lotzem (20), w/o Kamminlal Lotzem, a resident of Laikha was rushed to the District Hospital for a delivery case at around 11 pm but she was denied by a nurse after the documents they brought were said to be incomplete .

They were also told that no ASHA workers did not accompany her and the pregnant mother failed to get proper check up during her pregnancy .

The hospital allegedly told the patient that such pregnant nowadays is not entertained or accepted by the hospital for delivery, under any circumstances .

The sister of Lhingjoujam’s husband who accompanied the couple to the hospital, admitted their ignorance and intervened to seek an appointment with the doctor for request, was also shouted by the nurse on duty without showing any hospitality and humanity .

Later, Dr Justin, who was on duty examined the patient and gave one injection but denied admission and bed for delivery allegedly for incomplete documents and failure to undergo proper check up during pregnancy at such critical juncture .

The nurse on the duty is said to be a substitute of a permanent nurse who identity is not ascertained and the substitute nurse is identify as one Chiching of Kangpokpi DHQs .

The patient party having no alternate means stayed the night at the hospital verandah till morning without being paid any attention and medical care on the part of the medical staffs and left in the morning with much disappointment .

On reaching the residence of their sister in the morning, they decided to fetch the mother at Kangpokpi Christian Hospital while having no other option the father went out in search for a vehicle but his wife unexpectedly deliver her baby without any medical care and attention on the floor.
