COVID-19: Masks distributed at Kakching, Pallel; Bishnupur disinfected

Kakching, April 03 2020: To battle the coronavirus crisis which has claimed over 55,000 globally, Kakching Imphal Welfare Association (KIWA) distributed a total of 3,000 face masks at Kakching and Pallel, today.

Altogether 2,000 masks were distributed for Kakching during a function held at the office of AMSU Kakching district committee at Kakching Wairi Khunjampat Ground, today.

The masks were handed over to the secretary of United Organization Kakching by KIWA president Naorem Nabachandra; advisor Nongmaithem Nimaichand; treasurer Naorem Joykumar and Vice president Naorem Ibochou.

At the event, United Organization Kakching, Vice president Moirangthem Brojen stated that the masks will be distributed to the COVID-19 frontline workers such as police personnel, sanitary workers, health professionals, local club's volunteers and people in quarantine at the district.

KIWA also handed over 1000 masks for Pallel to Social Development Organization (SDO) Pallel and Youth Volunteers Association (YVA) Pallel.

Meanwhile, Kakching Runners distributed hand sanitizers made by the Science students of Manipur University to the staff of District Hospital Kakching, State Bank of India (SBI) Kakching Branch, Jivan Hospital Kakching, SP Kakching and district police personnel.

The groups (Kakching Runners) also help the public coming out to buy goods in maintaining a safe distance as a containment measure for COVID-19.BISHNUPUR: In continuation of the disinfection campaigns which were carried out in different parts of the State after a Nationwide lockdown was imposed in wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, disinfectants were sprayed in select places of Bishnupur district, today.

Under the supervision of ADO/BDO Moirang Ch Somorendro Singh and Moirang Fire Service, a team led by Saiton Gram Panchayat Pradhan, M Ibomcha Singh sprinkled disinfectants in the surrounding areas of the said GP, today.

Altogether 50 face masks weaved by the trainees of PMKVY Skill Development Project of Humanism Foundation Kumbi were also distributed to the Pradhan of GP for distribution by Bobby James, advisor of the foundation.

Volunteers of Konjengbam Leikai Youths' Welfare Association also took out a similar campaign in their locality, which is under the jurisdiction of Moirang Municipal Council.

Meanwhile, as per the order of the District Administration, some shops were allowed to open amid the lockdown for the public to stock their requirements.

But, as some vendors and shops which are not included in the order were also opened, the gathering increased, particularly at Moirang Market.

As the rush created confusion and inconvenience to the market-goers, Bishnupur Police led by Addl SP Ksh Sivakanta intervened and controlled the crowd.
