Senapati, June 30 2024:
While stating that Senapati is a peaceful district in the midst of the communal unrest which has persisted for more than a year, the Naga People's Organization (NPO) Tahamzam (Senapati), has resolved to restrict combing operations in and around Senapati district.
According to a statement issued by the Publicity Wing of NPO Senapati, a presidential meeting of the organisation resolved to not allow any form of military combing operation by the Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Manipur Rifles/Police in Senapati district.
It stated that the district has so far been a peaceful zone as the Nagas have maintained a neutral position in the present conflict.
"Any actor trying to drag in the people of the district shall be construed as inviting the grudge of the people", it said.
NPO maintained that the present trend of combing operations by the Army, CRPF, Manipur Rifles/Police in and around the village of the district is uncalled for.
Being the gateway of Manipur, NPO stated that the people of Senapati district have walked extra miles to support all communities from feeling unwanted by providing all logistical support so as to make every section of society feel safe and at home.
Stating that military combing operations in the peaceful district could create a war-like situation and create fear psychosis as well as disturb the congenial atmosphere in Senapati, NPO said that such combing operations should be avoided.
NPO has also appealed all the village Chairman/Secretaries to be mindful of the activities carried out by various agencies which is detrimental for a peaceful and progressive society.
NPO cautioned that in case of failure to comply with the given order, the organization may be compelled to take up any plan of agitation for which the State Government, District Administration and the military forces should be responsible.
