Imphal, January 19:
The Komrem People Army (KRPA) claiming responsibility for the burning down of the sericulture hut situated at Nungkot Kom village contended that the KRPA activists carried out the destruction in retaliation against the alleged failure of Commissioner (Sericulture) and Inspector Hesho Singh to honour repeated intimations to obtain permission from the village concerned on construction of the said structure.
Charging ten individuals from Andro Machengpat of forcibly entering the land located within the jurisdiction of Nungkot Kom village to carry out farming (sericulture) activities without consent of the village chief/authority, a KRPA statement issued by its commander Ashon Kom identified the ten as Kh Polo Singh and Koman Singh of Andro mamang Leikai; Kh Shamchandro of Andro Laipat; H Chaobhel, Kh chute, Hemanta, Y Rachan, Y Mohon Singh, Y chandramani of Machengpat; and P Chaanti of Khoibu.
Contending that these individuals were already informed to consult Nungkot Kom village authority and settle the issue but to no avail, the KRPA warned all concerned against venturing into the said spot failing which dire action would be initiated against the guilty.
On the otherhand, the KRPA asked one Toman Singh to give in to the outfit within 10 days' time to avoid undesired consequences.
Toman has been charged of attempting to assault KRPA activists when the latter tried to enquire on the abduction of Tombing Hangbu village chief.
