UMPCO vows to stand for united Manipur; peace rally, sit-ins continue

United Meitei Pangal Clubs Organization (UMPCO) Wangkhem staged sit-in protests at five different localities under Wangkhem AC voicing their stand to confront any threat that could compromise the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The sit-in protests were staged at Yairipok Heitroipokpi, Yairipok Bamol Leikai, Yairipok Singa, Phouden and Hayellabuk today.
The protestors called for restoration of peace and keeping the integrity of the State intact.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Md Riyajuddin, co-convenor, UMPCO strongly opposed the idea of disintegrating even an inch of the soil of Manipur.
"Meitei Pangals will face any threat that compromises the integrity of our beloved motherland until the last drop of our blood", he asserted.
The co-convenor urged the State and Central Government to bring an amicable solution to resolve the conflict peacefully at the earliest.

Calling for restoration of peace and normalcy, a student protestor by the name of Hasina Ayub espoused ideas of unity, brotherhood and peaceful co-existence.
She also urged the concerned authorities to consider the ramifications of the conflict on the student community.
Stating that friends who studied together in the same schools and class have been driven apart by the ongoing crisis, she expressed her desire to continue her education in Manipur.
Thus, she called for restoration of normalcy and no compromise on the integrity of Manipur.
At Kumbi, local clubs and meira paibi organisations of Sugnu, Kumbi, Hiyanglam and Thanga Assembly Constituency took out a peace rally today and subsequently held a public meeting at Terakhong ground.
Residents of Kumbi along with relief camp inmates from Wangoo Sabal, Ithai Wapokpi and Kumbi Uchan Makhong took part in the peace rally which culminated at Terakhong ground.
Following this, a public meeting was held.
Relief camp inmates from Torbung Bangla, Napat Tangjeng etc gave vivid accounts of their ordeal and suffering during the meeting and rued over the lack of State assistance as well as the anguish of seeing their homes burnt by Kuki militants.
Separately, urging the State and Central Government to bring about a resolution to the ongoing conflict, locals of Yairipok Ningthounai blocked the road and staged a sit-in protest.
The protest was organised by Ningthounai United Club Organisation (NUCO) in collaboration with local clubs and meira paibis.
Speaking in this connection, Md Anuwar Hussain, member, NUCO called for an amicable resolution to restore peace.
Maintaining that the territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised at any cost, he urged people to reflect and rein in their anger.
Meanwhile, inmates at Kakching Higher Secondary School relief camp also staged a sit-in protest questioning when they will be resettled peacefully.
The protest was organised by the Committee for Peace and Social Harmony HO Kakching in front of Kakching Higher Secondary School gate today.
The protestors raised placards appealing for protection of the State's integrity, withdrawal of Assam Rifles, making arrangements for resettlement of displaced families, abrogation of SoO pact, ensuring easy availability of essential items etc.
One Moirangthem Bijenti from Sugnu informed that her brother Ngangom Nevi alias Yaiphaba (19), s/o Ng Sanakhomba from Sugnu Awang Leikai has been missing since violence broke out in Sugnu on May 28.She made an earnest appeal to the State Government to locate her brother and hand him over to her family.
