TBCA set to celebrate 125 years of Christianity, Baptist fellowship

Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) Ukhrul is set to host a momentous gathering of Baptists to commemorate the 125th year of embracing Christianity by Tangkhul community at Ukhrul Headquarters from April 4-8, 2024 .
In connection with the upcoming event, a press conference was held today at TBG Hall, Mission compound, Alungtang, Ukhrul wherein details and purpose of celebrating the Tangkhul Baptist Gospel Quasquicentennial and Quinquennial Fellowship at Ukhrul were highlighted.
Addressing the media persons, Rev Zaklei Kaping, Pastor of Phungyo Baptist Church (PBC) expressed that 'Hunphun/Ukhrul was once an epicentre of education and we were leading the people in all spheres and now the right time has come to thank our Lord for his bountiful blessings'.
'We have been empowered to spread God's vision by disseminating the Gospel to all communities living in the State and beyond', he maintained.
Rev Zaklei Kaping who is also the chairman of die planning committee of Tangkhul Baptist Gospel (TBG-125) went on to inform that the theme of the commemoration will be "In the fullness of time".
He further stated that the 125th year of Tangkhul Gospel celebration is an event of spiritual awakening and consolidation of all Baptist fellowship across the globe to honour and glorify the proclamation of God's Kingdom through this unique and historic gathering.
It is a new era toward physical and spiritual development of all Baptist communities under common principles for expansion of God's kingdom, he added.
According to Rev Zaklei Kaping, delegates of Baptist World Alliance, American Baptist Churches, Asia Pacific Baptist Federation, American Baptist Foreign Mission Society, Council of Baptist Churches in North East India, Arunachal Baptist Convention, Garo Baptist Convention, Karbi-Anglong Baptist Convention, Manipur Baptist Convention, all the 30 associations of MBC and Sibsagar Baptist Church which ordained and baptized Rev William Pettigrew have been invited to attend the 5-day grand celebration.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh grace as the chief guest on the cultural day along with his host of Ministers and outer MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze, he said.
Speaking at the occasion, Rev Ayo, finance secretary TBCA said that the 5-day programme will showcase a myriad of traditional items, musical and talent shows and artifacts used by Tangkhuls will also be displayed He also urged the people of Ukhrul to clean up the surrounding to ensure the beauty of the town is maintained.
He further appealed to all to refrain from using intoxicants during the celebration for ensuring sanctity of the occasion.
While the President of TBCA, Aping Khamarang urged all to exhibit the spirit of being a biblical centric Christian and serve the guests with humility to strengthen the relationship among all communities.
Lastly, TBCA invited all the communities of the State irrespective of the religion, caste or creed to attend the mega gathering and celebration of Baptist fellowship living across borders to signify the true spirit and feeling of oneness.
