Imphal, December 23 2023:
The All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) has accused the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) of alleged employment irregularities in the recent appointment of 27 posts.
A statement issued by Kh Ayub Shah, president, AMMSO HQ Hatta has claimed that the requisite computer test for these 27 posts were not conducted.
On March 14, 2022, a list of 85 selected candidates was issued by the Controller of Examinations.
However, the mandatory announcement of the final 27 selected candidates were not published in their departmental website, newspapers or notice board, it claimed.
Despite this lack of notification, AMMSO alleged that the appointments were issued to the 27 selected candidates and that they were further allowed to join work by COHSEM authority.
Accusing COHSEM officials of recruiting staff at an unusually fast rate since 2016, AMMSO shared that the total number of staff employed by COHSEM was 86 before 2016 .
However, in the last 6 or so years between 2016 and 2023, a total of 119 staff was recruited, taking the total number of staff to 197, it added.
In stark contrast, AMMSO pointed out that the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) is operated by a total of roughly 70 staff.
Both are exam conducting bodies but the COHSEM conducts exams for approximately 35,000 students annually while BOSEM does the same for around 40,000, AMMSO claimed.
AMMSO also pointed out that BOSEM which conducts exams for a larger number of students is run by a far lesser number of staff.
Citing irregularities in the recruitment of staff by COHSEM authority, AMMSO has appealed to the State Government to form a committee to look into the matter and take strong action against the responsible officers.
