Bishnupur, April 01 2024:
The Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) continued their mass awareness campaign entitled "Vote for national regeneration" at Moirang College relief camp today with the participation of displaced folks.
Notably, MAYOL's mass awareness campaign was launched at Khwairamband Keithel on March 24 .
Addressing the campaign, public speaker Dr Dhanabir Laishram and social activist Geetchandra Mangang spoke at length about how to effectively exercise the right to vote and rectifying the rules and regulations surrounding elections thereby educating the conflict survivors staying in Moirang College Block A and Moirang College Block B relief camps.
Addressing the gathering, Laishram James, general secretary, MAYOL, stated that the awareness campaign focuses on politics at large and how "bad politics" can bring regression and "good politics" can spell development for a society.
He added that the campaign will achieve its goal when both voters and the candidates realize the value of votes and how voting in strict compliance with the guidelines without resorting to unsavoury poll tactics can bring victory.
During today's awareness campaign, the gathering collectively resolved to refrain from accepting bribes from the candidates, participating in poll festivities including feasts, proxy voting, participating in election rallies or roadshows as well as preserving one's right to vote and eradicating the trend of using muscle power to influence voters, among others.
