Bishnupur, August 23 2015:
As part of the ongoing ILPS movement, hundreds of protesters converged at Bishnupur bazar on Sunday demanding that that no land ownership rights should be
given to migrants.
The demonstration was jointly organised by Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL), Bishnupur District, Lumlangdong Apunba Nupi Lup (LANL) Bishnupur and Bishnupur Joint Clubs Organisation (BJCO) .
Under the aegis of the three groups, a mass sit-in protest was organised at the main market area.
Almost all business activities came to a standstill as shops and market stalls were shut down during the protest.
The demands raised by the protesters included implementation of ILPS in Manipur, incorporation of the five key points of JCILPS in the fresh Bill to be tabled in the Assembly, awarding befitting punishment to all the police personnel responsible for the killing of student protester Sapam Robinhood and no land ownership rights to non-indigenous migrants.
Later, the protesters formed a human chain shouting slogans in demand of implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
