Imphal, August 23 2015:
Meetei Council, Moreh (MCM) and All Community Development Organisation, Moreh (ACODOM) have sought compensation from the State Government for the loss of both commercial and residential properties during the August 18 Moreh violence.
Representatives of MCM, Hill Tribal Council, Maoreh (HTCM) and Government had on August 19 jointly reconciled and reached an agreement to prevent further violence in the commercial town, said a joint statement of MCM and ACODOM on Sunday.
Many residents are still suffering as their houses, shops and hotels had been destroyed in the group clashes and hence resumption of normal business activities in Moreh market is now impossible, it said.
The statement intently appealed to the Government to pay compensation without delay to the residents whose properties had been devastated in the incident.
The Moreh-based two organizations also made a fervent appeal to the public to generously extend financial assistance to the victim families to help recoup the loss to some extent.
