26 UGs arrested in July

Imphal, August 23 2015:
Security forces arrested a total of 26 underground cadres in July month this year during separate countre insurgency operations in various parts of the state while one cadre was killed and another injured during reported encounters with the security forces.
One civilian was also killed by the security forces while more than 300 people were injured during ILP protest last month.
The arrested underground cadres were four from PLA, two each from KCP (Mangal), PREPAK, KCP (Chingsanglakpa), KCP, PULF, KYKL, KCP (Noyon) and KRF, and one each from URF, KLA, PREPAK (PRO), NSCN (IM), NSCN (U) and UNLF.
Nine guns, 150 live rounds, eight mobile handsets, Rs 3 lakh in cash, 26 lethod shells, ten detonators and two hand grenades were seized from the arrested underground cadres.
On July 3, one NSCN (K) cadre was killed by Army personnel at Mukti Khullen in Tamenglong district and recovered a German made rifle from his possession.
On July 20, one ZUF cadre was injured during a clash between NSCN (IM) at Tousang village of Tamenglong district.
On July 8, a student of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy, Sapam Robinhood was killed by police during ILP protest at Hatta Minuthong in Imphal East.
More than 300 civilians were injured in the month of July during the ILPS protest when police fired tear gas shells, rubber bullets and baton charges.
