'Biggest tumour' removed at JNIMS

Imphal, April 27 2024:
A team of doctors at JNIMS suc-cessfully removed two ute- rine tumours weighing 16 kg and 5 kg respectively from the womb of a 60 year old woman, today.
The surgery done at the operation theatre of JNIMS was led by Gynae Onco-surgeon Professor Helen Kamei and Anaesthetist Professor Dr Thoibahenba.
The tumour weighing 16 kg is believed to be the biggest tumour so far reported in the State.
The patient is a resident of Sekmaijin and she came with the complaint of abdominal swelling, said the doctors at JNIMS and maintained the patient was even teased of being pregnant.
A huge tumour was found in the womb of the woman on examination, the doctors said and added the tumours have been removed successfully.
