Body warns dealers of displaced people's properties

Imphal, July 16 2023: Taking serious note of some individuals scheming to buy or take over properties of displaced people taking advantage of the crisis situation, Apun ba Chingmeirong, an apex body of clubs and organisations in Chingmeirong area, has asked all concerned to stop such activities while cautioning of stern action against anybody found involved in such shady deals.

Addressing a the media at a relief camp set up at Chingmeirong Upper Primary School here on Sunday, Apunba Chingmeirong spokesperson Arambam Vi-kash said that|here are reports of some groups of individuals taking donations from the public in the name of the crisis.

Such activities have created confusion among the people including street shops, he said while urging all concerned to stop donation drive without prior approval of local clubs.

Any state level organisation seeking assistance should intimate the local clubs, Vikash stressed while also urging money lenders and microfinances to stop interest collection until the crisis is resolved.

Decrying the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Manipur issue even after 73 days of the violence, he said that the way the Central government is handling the situation points towards possible nexus between government leaders and narco-terrorism syndicate.

The spokesman also expressed strong resentment that despite deployment of over 50,000 central security forces, Kuki militants continue to attack Meetei villages while demanding that the government withdraw from the SoO agreement.
