MHA envoy meets Arambai Tenggol

A special envoy of Ministry of Home Affairs, who arrived here on Monday, had a meeting with leaders of Arambai Tenggol at the Sana Konung, Palace Compound on Monday evening.
Though details about what transpired during the meeting remain unknown, Arambai Tenggol leader Korounganba Khuman revealed about the meeting in a Facebook post, along with sharing the demands/proposals they placed before the MHA team in order to resolve the crisis raging in the state.
According to him, the Arambai Tenggol team demanded the MHA team to conduct an NRC exercise with 1951 as the base year and to deport the illegal immigrants.
They also demanded to abrogate the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with Kuki militants and take up action against them for their aggression; shift the refugees from Myanmar staying in the state to Mizoram; and expedite border fencing.
They further alleged that the illegal poppy cultivations are taking place within the area of jurisdiction of Assam Rifles and people of the state no longer have faith in the force, while demanding the MHA team to remove Assam Rifles from the state and deploy another para military force in place of them.
They also demanded the MHA team to take up necessary actions to delete illegal Kuki immigrants from ST list.
Asserting that peace and normalcy can only be restored in the state by taking up necessary steps to fulfil the demands, the Arambai Tenggol team conveyed to the MHA team that they, along with the people of the state, will stand firm on their ground until the demands are met, the Arambai Tenggol leader said in his FB post.
Source said that the MHA special envoy acknowledged their demands and told the Arambai Tenggol team that they will convey their demands to the ministry.
