WMO, UMO condemn bomb blast at Lamtai Khunou

The World Meitei Organisation (WMO) and Universal Mothers' Organisation (UMO), Manipur have strongly condemned the bomb blast at Lamtai Khunou under Borobekra sub-division of Jiribam district on March 28.According to a statement issued by Pibarel Mangang, media co-ordinator, WMO, the blast was allegedly the handiwork of unknown miscreants suspected to be from the Kuki community and caused damage to three shops belonging to one Haobam Manikumar.
Urging the District Administration and the State Home Department to book the culprits behind the incident swiftly.
WMO claimed that the act was carried out to dismantle the peaceful atmosphere in the district inhabited by multiple communities.
Alleging that suspected Kuki miscreants have launched bomb and gun attacks four times in Lamtai Khunou area till date, WMO termed the lack of action by the concerned authorities despite such attacks on the Meitei community in Borobekra subdivision regrettable.
Extending solidarity to those who suffered losses due to the bomb blast, WMO has warned to launch intense agitation in collaboration with Jiribam CSOs, clubs, meira paibis and students if such incidents occur again.
Meanwhile, a press release by publicity secretary UMO, Akham Yaipharembi urged the Central and State Government to nab the culprits behind the bomb blast at the earliest and award stringent punishment to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
Further UMO demanded that adequate security should be provided for the safety of Meiteis in Jiribam and asserted that the organisation will extend all possible efforts to fight against any forces which may pose harm to the Meiteis in the area.
