North East Zone Sport Climbing Championship-2022 : Hijam Merina bags three gold as Manipur emerge champions

Manipur emerged champions of the IMF North-East Zone Sport Climbing Championship-2022 organised by Assam Sport Climbing Association and Assam Mountaineering Association under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) at Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship complex, Guwahati.
Manipur earned the top honour with a total of 9 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals as Arunachal Pradesh finished closest competitors with 2 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.
In the championship, Hijam Merina sealed three gold medals, one each in the women's open bouldering, women's open lead event and speed events as Nongdamba Yumnam sealed two gold medals in the sub-junior boys' bouldering and lead events and a bronze medal in the speed event.
Yumlembam Puspa also won two gold medals in the junior girls lead and bouldering events and a bronze medal speed climbing competition.
MD Menaishin Maring also earned Manipur three medals, one gold in the men's open lead competition, silver in the men's open bouldering competition and a bronze in the men's open speed competition.
Meanwhile Thokchom Boynao sealed the men's open speed competition gold and a bronze in the men's open bouldering event.
All the medallists in the zonal championship will be representing North East in the National Sport Climbing competition 2022 .
