RGGMF Memoriam 2018 : Korte Brothers SC, FC Sialchal share spoils

The highly anticipated Raja Goukhothang Guite Football Memoriam 2018 got to a thrilling start today at Lamka public ground, Churachandpur but the opening match of the tournament played between Korte Brothers SC of Sielmat and FC Sialchal of Neihsial Veng ended in a 1 -1 draw.
The tournament's opening ceremony was conducted early with a colourful rendition of memoirs in words and tunes.
A brief history of Raja G Guite, a paramount Zo chief was read aloud prior to the match's formal launch by Justice T Vaiphei, Chairman Assam Human Rights Commission and P Doungel ADGP.
The match began at 1.30 pm with Korte Brothers SC putting early pressure when Paolenlal Khongsai and Thangtinlen Haokip tested FC Sialchal custodian Jeson Vaiphei from the flank.
Although FC Sialchal began to settle into the match with its progress, it was Korte Brothers SC, who drew first blood when Paolenlal Khongsai (7) scored a historic first ever goal of the tournament from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute.
The goal, however, invited strong response from FC Sialchal as they mounted pressure in search of the equaliser and in the process, Peter Seiminthang Haokip neutralised the score with a powerful left-foot strike in the 29th minute and the evenly contested first-half ended 1-1 .
The second-half saw both sides revamping attack but to no avail.
Though, FC Neihsial threatened to go ahead, the best chance of the second-half fell to Korte Brothers SC when a Joseph Pudaite attempted a thunderous shot from close-range after beautiful cut-back from Comellius Pudaite was denied by Jeson Vaiphei.
Despite distant threats from William Neihsial and Peter Seiminthang Haokip of FC Sialchal, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
