Assam Rifles conducts lecture on drug awareness

11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a lecture on drug awareness for school students at Bethel High School in Mission Veng village, Tengnoupal District on Friday.
An AR statement said that a total of 80 students of class 8thto 10th(including 45 boys and 35 girls) attended the lecture.
The lecture was given by the Company Operating Base Commander of Mission Veng.
Special emphasis was laid on the importance of awareness against drug abuse amongst the society.
Mission Veng being a border village and ready availability of various kinds of drugs through the porous borders has disturbed the society to a great extent.
Individuals shared their stories about their acquaintances who have been a victim of drug abuse and how not only the individuals suffer because of drug abuse issues but also non-cooperation from family members further aggravates the situation.
The seminar concluded by taking a unanimous pledge to fight against the menace of drug abuse and help in thrashing the supply of drugs from foreign territory.
Second session of the seminar is being underway today.
