Manipur to host ITF Sr Graded Tennis Tourney

With due approvals from International Tennis Federation, Manipur Tennis Association (MTA) will organise ITF Senior Grade 4 Tennis Tournament 2018 at Imphal under the supervision of India Tennis Federation.
The above statement was made by MTA president T Panmei in a press meet held at Officers Club, Lamphel, today.
The tournament will be competed by nearly 80 players, including 13 from the State in both single and double match in three different groups.
In one group a players above the age of 35 will compete each other while a players of above 45 age and 55 age will compete in the remaining two groups respectively.
Saying that few players from German and Brazil have withdrawn their participation due to schedule conflict with the tournament held at Singapore, he assured that many foreign players will actively participate in future if properly organise this time.
The press meet was also attended by MTA advisor, S Rajiv, MTA secretary, Y Ibotombi and Surajit Bandopadhyay, who will be the referee of the tournament.
The tournament is going to be organised as an encouragement to the Manipur Sangai Festival with the approval All India Tennis Federation, he said.
The tournament which will cost around 7 lakhs was made possible only due to the love and support of all public.
The winners and runners up will be awarded Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively while all the semifmalists will be given Rs 3,500 each and all the quarterfinalists will be honoured with Rs 1,500 each, he said and added that the prize money for double winners and runners up, is Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively while Rs 2,500 each will be given to the semi-finalists.
The entry fee of the tournament is Rs 2,000 .
The tournament will be conducted under the supervision of ITF White Badge Referee Surajit Bandopadhyay.
He further appealed all the tennis and sport lovers to support the tournament.
