Abducted SAI inmate escapes : Coaches, Players & SAI Officials condemn kidnapping

Imphal, April 18 2013:
In a shocking incident, a 14 years old inmate of SAI-SAG, Khuman Lampak, Imphal was abducted by four unknown miscreants from Khurai Telipati area yesterday at around 6.10 pm.
Fortunately, the young player escaped from the clutch of his abductors and reached home safely.he victim player was one Haobam Roshan aged about 14 years son of H Dhananjoy of Kongba Tokpam Leikai, Imphal.
SAI officials came to know of his absence at 6.30 pm during its normal assembly and concerned warden and SAI officials were immediatelty informed about his absence.

They started searching for the player but they came to know about the abduction only after local people of Yairipok Khoirom informed them about the incident.
According to the victim, he came out from the hostel to buy some essential items for daily uses from shops at Telipati by passing the hanging bridge between Khuman Lampak and Telipati where he was stopped by the persons.
In the meantime, one of the person put something like chloroform and he lost his conciousness.
When he regain his sense, he found himself in a parked white colour Maruti Van without any person inside it.
Taking advantage of the situation, he fled for his life.
Some local women of Yairipok Khoirom found him sitting at a waiting shed where the player was resting.
They then informed his parents and SAI officials.
Later he was picked up from there by parents along with his local people and arrived his home at around 11.45 pm.
Meanwhile, reacting against the kidnapping of a young and promising player, officials of SAI, players and coaches today took out a protest rally.
The rally started from SAI SAG complex and went through Hanging Bridge, Lamlong, Dingku Road, Lilashing Khongnangkhong, Thangmeiband, Khuyathong, MMTA and concluded at SAI SAG Complex, Khuman Lampak, Imphal.
The rally condemned the kidnapping of player who have been putting their best efforts in bringing laurels and fame to the state.
Many sportspersons of the state also participated in the protest rally.
