State needs a film city to produce quality movies: Surchandra

MLA of Kakching A/C Yengkhom Surchandra Singh has observed that Manipur needs a film city to promote production of quality based movies and a regional center of Central Board of Film Certificate (CBFC) to lessen the problems faced in trying to obtain film censorship certificates.
Addressing the gathering of the Yaipha Thouni Thouram of a new Manipuri feature film 'Thamoida Kiramba Kishi' organised by Ipak Film Production at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here today, Surchandra said that if the Manipuri film industry is to be developed it should maintain a good rapport with Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) .
He noted that one of the main hurdles faced in produce more movies in the state is obtaining censorship certificate from CBFC, Guwahati.
If the state has a regional center of the film censor board, the problem of going all way to Guwahati would be over.
Surchandra assured to press concerned authority in this regard.
Vice President of IPAK Film Production, Sagolsem Lakpati Mangang and Chairman of Film Forum Manipur, Laimayum Surjakanta Sharma attended the function as president and special guest respectively.
