Imphal, April 18 2013:
The Naga Peoples' Front (NPF), Manipur State unit has deplored the state government of Manipur's alleged muteness on school girl Alice Kamei's case wherein the latter is reportedly in the custody of the Revolutionary Peoples Front/Peoples Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) .
Mentionably, RPF/PLA says Alice Kamei is 16 years old and had joined the outfit on her own volition while the Zeliangrong organisations rejected the former's version and accused the militant outfit of kidnapping the school girl to force her to join the militant outfit.
The Zeliangrong organisations also said that Alice Kamei is only 14 years old.
Athuan Abonmai, secretary of the NPF, Manipur State unit said today, "In the recent past, the state government of Manipur under the leadership of chief minister O Ibobi Singh had convened 'all political parties meetings' on incidents that had happened but on something serious as in the case of Alice Kamei, the chief minister chooses to remain mute" .
The NPF leader then added, "Forget about calling political parties meeting, the state government had not even condemned on the matter" .
Athuan Abonmai then asked the concern authorities to book Manipur Home minister Gaikhangam for his comment on the Alice Kamei case.
"Mr Gaikhangam who is also the Home minister of Manipur had stated in the media that school going girl Alice Kamei's decision of joining the RPF/PLA was unfortunate.
From this point of view one can conclude that either Alice Kamei had interacted with Gaikhangam or the Home minister had met the school girl in the RPF/PLA's custody.
Otherwise, how can Gaikhangam could comment that Alice Kamei had decided to join the RPF/PLA?" asked the NPF, Manipur State unit secretary, " adding with a logic, "The very words 'Alice Kamei's decision to join the RPF/PLA was unfortunate' speaks volumes" .
Athuan Abonmai then said the people can no longer trust the state government of Manipur.
"We therefore draw the attention of the Governor of Manipur to look into the matter and address the problem," Athuan Abonmai appeals.
