The Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (Corps of EME) conducted a White Water Rafting expedition from Karan Prayag to Rishikeshas as pre-cursor to its Eighth Re-union to motivate youngsters join the Army.
The expedition was aimed to achieve high sense of adventure, mental toughness, self confidence, camaraderie and leadership qualities, said PIB (DW).
The team was led by Capt Rupesh Gupta and negotiated a stretch of 200 kms (approx) in six days.
During the expedition the team negotiated 104 major rapids varying from Grade VI to Grade I.Although the intensity of rapids increased due to continuing rainfall, it nevertheless made the expedition more challenging and adventurous.
Meanwhile, seven members of Army Women Mountaineering Team with five support members climbed Mount Abi Gamin (7355 metres) as a pre-expedition training for scaling Mount Everest in 2005 as an all women team.
These women during the expedition faced series of inclement weather including avalanches, heavy snowfalls and sub-zero temperatures.
The team was led by Capt Isha and consisted of seven Army Women Officers, 11 NCC girls cadets and eight Special Frontier Force trainees.
